CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - A national foundation dedicated to community health issues has awarded funding for a health initiative in Springfield.
This Sunday on 22News InFocus we'll learn about the de Beaumont Foundation, and their community health project, the BUILD HEALTH CHALLENGE. A Springfield community partnership, the HEALTHY HILL INITIATIVE, will receive $75-thousand dollars for their plan to address safety, economic and health issues in the Old Hill neighborhood.
A panel discussion will include of some of the lead partners of the initiative will discuss the plans to improve living conditions in the Old Hill Neighborhood. The initiative won a $75-thousand dollar grant initiate the planning process and have applied for an additional $100-thousand dollars to implement the plans.
They hope to create a successful model that will help other communities address the factors that cause unhealthy living conditions. They have begun by organizing working partnerships with hospitals, housing and community organizations and businesses.
