Two dead in apparent murder-suicide

MONTGOMERY, Mass. (WWLP) – An apparent murder-suicide left two people dead in Montgomery Monday night.

What we know right now, is that a hours-long standoff between police and a man inside a home on Main Road in Montgomery ended in a murder-suicide. State police detectives assigned to the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office are still trying to determine what led up to the two deaths.

Murder/Suicide led to day-long standoff in Montgomery

According to Massachusetts State Police Media Relations, the incident started when a man called police Monday morning, telling them he had committed a crime. State police were then able to determine that he was possibly armed inside his home.

At one point, state police closed a section of Main Road, and brought in their tactical operations team, police dogs, and a hostage negotiator.

One resident told 22News police tried to talk to someone in the house over a loudspeaker, asking him to come to the front door.

The Hampden County District Attorney’s office has not yet released the identities of the victims.
