Chicopee police searching for armed home invasion suspects

Shelter-in-place order lifted at schools

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Chicopee police are searching for two armed home invasion suspects.

Chicopee Police Officer Mike Wilk told 22News a call came in at 10:45 a.m. for a reported home invasion at 189 Montgomery Street. A man who was inside the home was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Wilk said the suspects were masked and got away on foot. Wilk said it is not believed to be a random act.

As a precaution, schools in the area were issued a shelter-in-place order. According to the City of Chicopee’s official Facebook page, the shelter-in-place order has been lifted for all schools. Students are back in class as scheduled, however, there will be no outdoor activities at Chicopee Comprehensive High School, Lambert-Lambert Elementary, Barry Elementary, Belcher Elementary or Bellamy Elementary schools.

A Chicopee police dog could not track either of the suspects. If you recognize the suspects or have any information, you’re asked to call Chicopee Police Detectives at 413-594-1740.
