3 taken to hospital after accident on Bay and Tapley Streets in Springfield

It is unknown when the roads will reopen

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Bay and Tapley Streets have reopen after an accident involving 2 vehicles and a dump truck sent two people to the hospital Friday evening.

Springfield Police Department Spokesman Ryan Walsh told 22News a serious accident involving 2 cars and a dump truck closed the area of Bay and Tapley Streets for a few hours after 4 p.m.

Walsh told 22News one of the cars involved in the accident crossed the center line and collided with the other.

The driver of that car suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Two people in the other car were also taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

Springfield police, fire and ambulance services were at the location.

 

Walsh told 22News the accident continues to be under investigation.
