LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) – One person has been sent to the hospital after a van struck a mobile home on West Street.
Neighbors told 22News that two vans collided about six tonight drivuing one of them into a mobile home.
Ludlow Police Sgt. Brian Shameklis told 22News that the van punctured the home’s propane tank, triggering a hazardous materials response.
Shameklis said emergency crews temporarily patched the tank.
Neighbors told 22News they were told to evacuate the mobile home park after the crash.
“All of a sudden we heard this screeching, and then we heard a bam, and another big bam, and I ran out, because I’m actually a medical assistant so I was checking to make sure everybody was okay, and then I just seen that the car hit the house, and the gas line was hit,” Becky Vogel told 22News. “All we could smell was gas everywhere.”
Holyoke and West Street are closed going north. West Street and Stonybrook Drive are closed heading south. Sgt. Shameklis said to avoid this area if possible.
Police are unsure when the streets will reopen.
