Easthampton police issuing tickets to children

Program to continue over next few weeks

EASTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Easthampton police officers are issuing tickets to children… for good behavior!

The Easthampton Police Department has started a new community building program in which officers are seeking out children who do something good or right and giving them a “ticket.”

Each ticket is good for one free kid’s cone at Mt. Tom’s Homemade Ice Cream & Candy Store, who partnered with the Police Department for this community-building initiative.

Easthampton Police Chief Robert Alberti said that officers are looking forward to getting to know the community in a positive way.

“We want these kids to have understanding and a feeling that we’re always there to help,” Alberti told 22News. “We’re there to be your friend and people you can count on in your times of need, and times of ice cream.”

Kids have until the end of October, to be cited for good behavior.
