West Springfield PD: Man’s hands nearly severed in Highland Ave stabbing

Police say crime was not random

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – West Springfield police were called to a stabbing at an apartment complex Monday night, where they say they found blood splattered on the walls, and a man whose hands were nearly cut off.

According to the West Springfield Police Department’s official Facebook page, the victim was found laying on the ground with his upper body inside the 17 Highland Avenue apartment, and his lower body in the hallway.

In addition to the man’s nearly-severed hands, West Springfield police say he had a severe cut on the back of his head.

The victim was taken to Baystate Medical Center and is expected to survive.

West Springfield police say the stabbing was not a random act.

Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services troopers are assisting West Springfield police detectives in their ongoing investigation.
