SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A West Springfield murder suspect is scheduled to return to Springfield District Court Friday for a hearing.

Roberto Santiago was arraigned on a murder charge in Springfield District Court last month.

The 19-year-old is accused of shooting 18-year-old Delilah Santiago in the head at the Hillcrest Apartment complex in West Springfield in April. Delilah Santiago was killed in that shooting.

Connecticut State Police arrested Santiago at Bradley International Airport hours after that deadly shooting occurred. The Hampden County District Attorney’s Office said he had allegedly purchased a ticket to Puerto Rico.

Santiago was arraigned in Connecticut as a fugitive from justice, before returning to Springfield, where he was arraigned on a murder charge.

The DA’s office also said they believe the suspect and victim knew each other, but they haven’t released any information on a potential motive for this shooting.

Friday’s hearing will be the first time Santiago has returned to court since that arraignment.
