Calls for special prosecutor grow

Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe faces tough questions from Senate committee in wake of James Comey's firing.

(NBC News) Acting head of the FBI Andrew McCabe was thrust into the spotlight Thursday at a hearing by the same Senate Intelligence Committee investigating Trump campaign ties to Russia.

His testimony comes just days after the firing of Director James Comey, and amid growing calls for an indepedendent prosecutor to handle the Russia investigation.

The FBI Director had reportedly asked for more resources to investigate possible Trump campaign ties to Russia before his dismissal.

Lawmakers are calling for a special prosecutor with no ties to any agency to investigate.
