Suspicious fire in Springfield damages garage and car

No injuries were reported in fire on Bellevue Ave.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A fire that damaged a garage and a car in Springfield early Wednesday morning is being called suspicious.

Springfield Fire Department Spokesperson Dennis Leger told 22News that calls for the fire at 39 Bellevue Ave. came in around midnight.

Crews were able to quickly put out the flames. The fire damaged a detached garage and a Chevy Sonic, as well as some of the home’s exterior.

No injuries were reported, but Leger says the fire is considered to be suspicious. The Springfield Arson and Bomb squad is investigating.
