Dog finds human skull

North Dakota family's dog leaves human skull on front steps after unearthing body in nearby woods.

(KVLY/NBC News) The Federal Bureau of Investigation is working to identify human remains found near the home of a Rolette County, North Dakota family.

The remains were discovered when one of the family’s dogs brought a human skull home from nearby woods.

“I stood back and I froze for a bit, I didn’t know what to do. I was scared, confused, shocked. No words can describe what a person goes through when they see something like that,” said Shireen Bursinger.

“I looked over and I didn’t think nothing of it. I thought it was just one of my Halloween props. So, I turned around and I glanced at it again and it turns out to be a human skull,” Bursinger added.

The FBI is handling the case because the remains were found on tribal lands. Foul play is suspected.
