AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – “Fidget spinners” are the new toy that kids of all ages are playing with. They’re small gadgets, which you can be twirled between your fingers.
They were designed to help people focus, or just have something to do with their hands. Some schools, however, are saying they’ve become a major distraction in the classroom.
Agawam’s school district has left it up to the teachers to decide if they want to allow them.
“I think it’s crazy. I really do, it’s a toy,” Palmer resident Heather Rodrigo said. “I could see banning cellphones or other things that keep them not doing school work. But I don’t see the harm in it. I don’t.”
The average cost of a fidget spinner is $5, although they are selling for more online.
