‘Suspicious package’ in Springfield determined not to be a threat

Edgewood Street has reopened

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A Springfield intersection has reopened after the city’s Arson and Bomb squad determined a suspicious package was an empty box.

Springfield emergency crews shut down the intersection of Edgewood and Bay Streets just after 3:00 p.m.

Springfield Fire Spokesman Dennis Leger told 22News the package was determined not to be a threat.

The road has since reopened.
