Police legally can't release more information

Apartment complex at 50 Southampton Road

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Westfield transfer station reopened Monday after it was closed Friday for an investigation.

The investigation also involves an apartment complex on Southampton Road, but police haven’t legally been able to release much information.

Police, District Attorney conduct investigation in Westfield

Westfield police said it all started Thursday afternoon in one of the apartments at 50 Southampton Road. 22News spoke with Westfield police and the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office Monday, but both said they have no additional releasable information.

The transfer station was closed Friday

 

Westfield police said state law prohibits them from releasing any more information related to the case. There are laws that prevent police from talking about a criminal investigation if it involves domestic violence, juveniles, and the Good Samaritan Law.

22News spoke with residents who live in the apartment complex Monday, and they said they saw police come in and out of the complex over the weekend.
