SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Saturday was a night to remember, as hundreds of people gathered in Springfield to raise money for Pioneer Valley residents suffering from cancer.
The 25th annual Evening of Hope Gala event was held at the MassMutual center. The theme for the black tie affair: A Night in Disguise.
Guests wore masquerade masks and enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, while bidding on auction items.
The founder of the Evening of Hope, Gary Fialky told 22News, he has a personal connection to the American Cancer Society, “They provided rides for my mother for her treatments and every time I went to pay for either the services, they would say, ‘oh no, that’s taken care of.’ So I starting writing checks. Then I decided, let’s bring in the business community. Let them help us raise funds.”
All proceeds from tonight event will go towards helping western Massachusetts residents with cancer services. To date, the Evening of Hope Gala has raised more than $3 million.
