EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – An East Longmeadow printing company is going green.
A ceremonial ribbon cutting was held Thursday morning at the TigerPress facility to celebrate the completion of a solar installation. Elected officials and executives from both TigerPress and EnterSolar were on hand to celebrate the system’s completion.
TigerPress President Reza Shaffi told 22News the 2,500 solar panels were installed on the roof of the building on Industrial Drive. He said they will generate more than 65% of the building’s power and cut the company’s annual electricity costs in half.
“Right now, our average monthly electrical bill is about $20,000. You’re looking at about $200,000 to $250,000 a year. This will generate about 70% of our electricity, and once the cost is paid up, we’ll be saving as much as $150,000 a year,” Shaffi told 22News.
Shaffi said the company was able to fund the solar installation through a state program that provides tax credits to businesses using renewable energy.
