Springfield Garden Club marks important milestone

Garden Club members placed a wreath at the mausoleum of Everett Barney

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield Garden Club marked a milestone Wednesday, as they celebrated their 100 year anniversary.

Garden Club members observed the occasion by planting a Magnolia tree near the Carriage House at Forest Park.

Garden Club President Janet Dolder told 22News how proud its members are to have had a positive impact on the community. She said, “We go around to nursing homes and we do garden therapy with them. We make flower arrangements. That’s just a wonderful experience for everyone involved.”

When they finished planting the Magnolia tree, Garden Club members placed a wreath at the mausoleum of Everett Barney. He was the benefactor who donated the land later to be known as Forest Park.
