Fire caused $15K worth of damage to a house in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield firefighters put out another fire on Wednesday, this time on Tyler Street at a vacant house.

According to Dennis Leger, aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner, the department was called to the fire around 8:10 p.m. Wednesday at 38 Tyler Street. He said the fire was found on the second floor of the 2 1/2 story house.

The fire caused $15,000 worth of damages to the house, but no one was injured, Leger said. The Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad is investigating the fire as “suspicious” after three youths were reportedly seen running from the fire.

Earlier Wednesday, Leger told 22News a witness also reported seeing three youths running away from a brush fire at Forest Park. No word if these two fires are connected.
