Democrats of the Year awards held in Longmeadow

The awards were held at the Two Hills Country Club

LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Recognition came on Sunday for two prominent, long serving western Massachusetts lawmakers.

The Longmeadow Democratic Committee held its annual Democrats of the Year Award Brunch at the Twin Hills Country Club.

Massachusetts Senate President Stanley Rosenberg of Amherst was saluted as the Democrat of the Year. Congressman Richard Neal, of Springfield, was honored as the 2017 Democrat of Distinction. While Secretary of the Commonwealth, William Galvin, gave the keynote address.

Gavin said, “Let’s look forward what we can do to make a better community. Is it worth protecting health care, financial services investments for people, you never look back, you go forward.”

Rosenberg added, “It’s a great honor, this democratic committee here in Longmeadow is among the most active in the commonwealth, and the fact they draw people from all over western Massachusetts not only gives them an opportunity to bask, but be a voice in the region.”

The chair of the Longmeadow Democratic Town Committee, Candy Glazer, told 22News it’s a tradition that each year they recognize public servants who advance the values of their political party.
