BELCHERTOWN, Mass. (WWLP) – A 28 year-old man from Belchertown has been arrested on child pornography charges, after police say that he tried to entice an underage boy to send him nude pictures.
Belchertown Police Detective John Raymer told 22News that Douglas Wallace was arrested on Thursday at his River Street home.
According to Raymer, police began their investigation into Wallace in March, after he allegedly used Facebook Messenger to try to convince the victim to send naked photos. Police obtained a search warrant for his home, and seized several electronic devices.
Raymer says that a forensic analysis of Wallace’s phone revealed numerous images of child pornography. He says they arrested Wallace Thursday after analyzing thousands of photos.
The suspect is being charged with possession of child pornography and attempting to pose a child in the nude. He was held overnight at the Belchertown police station without bail, and was scheduled for arraignment Friday at Eastern Hampshire District Court.
Raymer says that Belchertown police want to thank the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit, the Northwestern District Anti-Crime Task Force, and the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office’s Child Abuse Unit for their help in this investigation.
