SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A woman has been taken to the hospital after a one-car crash on Union Street in Springfield Tuesday morning.

The driver of a minivan struck a light pole at the corner of Union and Orleans Streets in the city’s Old Hill neighborhood.

Dennis Leger, aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner, told 22News that the driver was unresponsive when firefighters found her. She was conscious and talking, however, by the time she was loaded onto an ambulance, our 22News crew could see.

The driver was taken to the hospital with what Leger says are serious injuries.

Union Street was closed in the immediate area of the crash while everything was cleaned-up.
