Campaign will appeal for more life-saving organ donors in Massachusetts

Organ and tissue donations reportedly saved 1,033 lives in 2016

BOSTON (STATE HOUSE NEWS SERVICE) – Organ donors and people whose lives have been shaped by successful donations plan to gather Wednesday at the State House to launch a new campaign.

Organizers of an event planned for the State House’s Grand Staircase say organ and tissue donations saved 1,033 lives in 2016. People affected by donations plan to share their stories at the 1:00 p.m. event.

Public Health Commissioner Dr. Monica Bharel, Representative Ed Coppinger and Senator John Keenan plan to join Registry of Motor Vehicles officials, transplant surgeons, and New England Donor Services to announce the new campaign and highlight April as Donate Life Month in Massachusetts.
