Police investigate 2 armed robberies in Springfield

No word yet if these robberies are connected

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Police were busy late Monday night investigating two armed robberies that happened within an hour.

The first robbery took place at the Sunoco Gas Station on Boston Road, just after 10:00 p.m. Monday. Springfield Police Lt. Mark Rolland told 22News the identity of the suspect was not yet available, but they knew he was a 30-year-old man wearing a mask.

The man made demands from the store clerk and showed a small black handgun, Lt. Rolland said. No one was injured.

The second armed robbery took place about half an hour later at the Five Town Plaza in Springfield. Lt. Rolland said someone showed a black handgun during the robbery on Allen and Cooley Streets, but he didn’t know if it was a business or a person that was robbed.

No word yet if these two robberies are connected. Police are still looking for the possible suspects.
