WATERBURY, Conn. — “I was surprised just like everybody else, you know what I mean?”

Israel Smith was not alone as a whole lot of neighbors we’re surprised when police arrested 34-year-old Fatin Ward for allegedly extorting a man after a dominatrix session. The arrest warrant says Ward listed herself in an advertisement as a “black, dominant, ruthless plus-size” dominatrix. She forced the victim into sexual acts including stripping naked to clean the kitchen oven. That was part of her services, but then she took photos and allegedly blackmailed the victim for months.

Ward is accused of extorting money to pay for different things:

  • $5,000 lump sum
  • $400 new cell phone
  • $200 children’s birthday gifts
  • $220 hair
  • 8 payments of $140 cell phone bill

Court papers say in the end, after he paid, Ward sent the naked photos to the man’s wife anyway. Israel Smith says this is the first he’s hearing about it.

“I didn’t have any real idea of what is going on, you don’t know what people are doing in their private lives until something comes out, and you read about it in the court papers, yeah yeah,” Smith said.

Investigators are looking to see if there are more victims out there because court papers show she is a registered sex offender convicted of a lewd act on a child, back in 2000 in South Carolina. In Waterbury in 2015, another case was opened up against her. A man accused Ward of threatening his children. She said she was going to kidnap them and sexually assault them. She also allegedly took out a Facebook ad where she accused the man of being gay and that he might likely have aids.

Ward says she didn’t do anything wrong and was paid to embarrass and humiliate.
