FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (WWLP) – F-15 jets from the 104th Fighter Wing at Barnes Air National Guard Base flew over the Boston Marathon route Monday. But the patriotic show of American air power is not the only contribution that the wing has made to Monday’s event.
The 104th Security Forces Squadron and Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team is among about 75 groups and law enforcement agencies that are helping with security along the 26.2 mile route from Hopkinton to Boston.
Two F-15s flew in formation over the route at 9:50 A.M., just before the elite men’s runners got going. The 121st running of the Boston Marathon has drawn about 32,000 runners and more than a million spectators.
