Man shot by Suffield police officer identified as West Springfield resident

The police officer is not being identified

Police investigating an officer involved shooting in Suffield, Connecticut on April 13, 2017.

SUFFIELD, Conn. (WWLP) – The man shot and killed by a Suffield police officer last week has been identified as a West Springfield resident.

According to Connecticut State Police Media Relations, 57-year-old Thomas Gezotis was shot following an interaction with a Suffield police officer during a traffic stop on Route 159 around 12:30 p.m. Thursday. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

State police said the officer fired at least one round, striking Gezotis. The Suffield police officer was not shot and is not being identified at this time.

Connecticut State Police detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
