Man arrested in Wilbraham for second OUI, leaving crash site

Christoper Berube, 30, of Westfield charged

WILBRAHAM, Mass. (WWLP) – A man from Westfield was arrested for OUI for his second time, after Wilbraham police say that he side-swiped another car and then drove away.

According to a posting on the Wilbraham Police Department’s official Facebook page, Christopher Berube, 30, was arrested on the night of April 7.

Wilbraham police say that the crash took place near Boston Road and Grove Street, but Berube did not stop after the crash, and kept driving until he finally stopped near Old Boston Road and River Road. When police got there, the department says Berube “appeared very intoxicated and failed to demonstrate field sobriety tests as directed by the officer.”

Berube was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor (second offense), negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
