Police said the vehicle that crashed had been carjacked in Hartford

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Police arrested an armed robbery suspect on Monday after a police chase and crash of a suspected stolen vehicle.

Springfield Police Lt. Mark Rolland told 22News an armed man stole prescription drugs from the Walgreens on Sumner Avenue, around 11:00 a.m. Monday.

Police later spotted a vehicle on Union Street, which crashed after the driver allegedly refused to pull over, Rolland said. Police arrested 30-year-old Matthew Dicredico of Middletown, Connecticut, and allegedly found prescription drugs, but no weapons.

Hartford Police and the FBI were also involved in the investigation. Rolland said the vehicle that crashed on Union Street had been carjacked in Hartford, earlier Monday morning.

Rolland added that the Walgreen employees identified Dicredico as the armed robbery suspect. Dicredico will be arraigned on Tuesday in Springfield District Court.
