NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Big improvements are coming to Northampton that will improve travel for pedestrians and bicyclists. Starting Monday, crews will start work on the Pleasant Street corridor.
Work includes improvements to the crosswalks, intersection, along with curb extensions.
Sara Prez Battles of Hadley told 22News, “I think it’s a great idea in order for kids and for people to be able to ride their bikes and be able to walk and commute.”
Earlier this year, Northampton received $2.9 million in state funding, in addition to $400,000 grants from MassDOT.
The project is expected to be completed in September.
