SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Easter dinner for the homeless, the hungry and the lonely. A coming together thanks to the Springfield Rescue Mission.
On this day before Easter Sunday, the Rescue Mission fed hundreds, including the homeless, along with neighborhood families at their Mill Street complex.
Having the holiday dinner on Saturday would permit them to attend Sunday’s Open Pantry community dinner at the High School of Commerce.
Shaun Cary of the Rescue Mission told 22News he appreciates what the agency has done for him. He said, “I’ve come into a program and I help share with people what I’ve learned, and to give back to the community.”
In keeping with the spirit of Easter, the Rescue Mission provided, not only a holiday dinner, but also donated gifts for the children from the South End neighborhood.
