Eating seafood before Easter is a tradition for some

Big Y customers were buying everything from crab legs to salmon

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Whether it’s a form of fasting or just habit, fish was the dish of choice for many people in western Massachusetts on Good Friday.

22News went to Big Y’s Seafood Department in Greenfield on Friday. Customers were buying everything from crab legs to salmon.

Nate Truncellito, a Big Y employee, told 22News the fish was flying off the shelves; “There’s still plenty of faithful people out there, and they’re still coming in and buying anything, like sushi; which we prepare fresh here every day to our fried seafood dinners.”

People were really buying everything on this Good Friday. The Big Y’s Seafood Department saw an increase of nearly 50% in sales.
