Springfield Thunderbirds first season is coming to an end

The team’s last game is on April 15th against the Wolf Pack

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield Thunderbirds are closing out their inaugural Springfield season with three games in four nights. The team played against the Providence Bruins, Wednesday night, and won by a score of 4 to 3.

Fans told 22News they’re happy Springfield still has an AHL franchise. Jacob Gosselin of Springfield said, “You know hockey has been around here since 1936, so keeping it around here is a good thing.”

The Thunderbirds will play against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Friday, April 14th, and then the last game of the season is on Saturday, April 15th against the Hartford Wolf Pack. Both games will be played at the MassMutual Center in Springfield.
