After Greenfield crash, man charged with 3rd OUI

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A man is being charged with operating under the influence for the third time, after Greenfield police say that he crashed his car into a utility pole Sunday night.

The Greenfield police department posted on their official Facebook page that Donald Hill, 48, of Montague was arrested after he was discharged from Baystate Franklin Medical Center.

Police were called to the area of 808 Colrain Road at around 8:20 Sunday night, for a report of a crash involving a utility pole. When police got there, they found a damaged Volvo and a pole that was sheared in half. Officers located Hill nearby and took him to the hospital to be treated for possible injuries.

Greenfield police say that the investigating officer determined he had probable cause to arrest Hill for on an OUI charge. Hill refused treatment at the hospital and was discharged, after which time he was taken into custody.

As he was being booked, Greenfield police say it was discovered that this was his third arrest for driving under the influence. He is additionally charged with a marked lanes violation and operating to endanger. He was released on $500 bail.
