MassDOT announces lane closures on I-91 in Northampton

The lanes will be closed during daytime hours for at least a week

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has announced the temporary closure of two lanes on I-91 in Northampton.

The affected lanes, one southbound and one northbound, will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day, Monday, April 10th through Friday, April 14th. However, the work is weather dependent, and the schedule subject to change.

MassDOT told 22News in a press release, “the work being done is part of a larger construction project that involves repaving the roadway and repairing bridges along I-91.”

Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes; those unable to avoid the affected area should expect heavy traffic and reduced speed limits. MassDOT will be providing travel time information for destinations along I-91 with their roadside GoTime message boards.
