Car fire in Springfield

The driver was able to get out of the car without suffering any ill effects

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A car caught fire in Springfield Saturday afternoon.

Springfield Fire Department spokesman Dennis Leger told 22News that the driver was on his way to work, when his car engine’s malfunctioned, sparking a fire in his 2005 Mazda 3. Firefighters found the burning car on Carando Drive, near Cottage Street.

The driver was not hurt.
