Massachusetts police officer could face prison time on child porn charges

Attleboro Police Department had no comment

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (CNN) – Attlenboro Police Sergeant Richard Woodhead was arrested at his Attleboro home on multiple child pornography charges. He was arraigned on Thursday and came out wearing a New England Patriots sweatshirt, facing three charges involving child pornography.

His charges include attempting to coerce a minor, attempting to receive child porn and possessing child porn. Prosecutors said the child porn was found in Woodhead’s closet and he enticed a minor for sexual activity. If found guilty, the three charges run total a mandatory 35 years in prison.

Reporters went to Woodhead’s house following his arrest Thursday morning; however, no one came to the door, a car was spotted speeding out of his garage with no comment. Reporters also contacted the Attleboro Police Department, but they did not take any questions and did not want to release any comments.

For now, the judge is keeping the officer in custody, with an upcoming bail hearing scheduled. The judge ordered the officer to complete a mental health evaluation before his next court appearance.
