Red Sox-Pirates game rained out, rescheduled to next week

Game will be played April 13 at Fenway

BOSTON (WWLP) – The 2017 season is less than a week old, but the Boston Red Sox have already been rained out. Game 3 of the Sox’ season-opening series against the Pittsburgh Pirates was scheduled for early Thursday afternoon, but because of heavy rain in the forecast, it has been postponed.

The game will now be played next Thursday, April 13, at Fenway; sandwiched between series against Baltimore and Tampa Bay.

The Red Sox will begin a road trip on Friday, visiting the Detroit Tigers. First pitch is scheduled at 1:10.

Are you a ticketholder? The Red Sox rainout policy is as follows:

If legal game is not replayed or not rescheduled with same ticket valid, the rain check must be exchanged at the Red Sox ticket office in person by the lawful holder or by mail for a ticket of the same price, if available, for any future regularly scheduled game of the current season. If game is rescheduled NO REFUNDS or EXCHANGES will be issued. The original ticket will be valid for the makeup game.

Address: Boston Red Sox, 4 Yawkey Way, Boston, Ma 02215.
