Rhode Island fugitive caught hiding in Holyoke

Agencies from Massachusetts and Rhode Island worked together to find Joshua Rojas

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Detectives from Holyoke and Massachusetts State Police arrested an alleged violent fugitive from Rhode Island, Tuesday night, who was wanted in a shooting incident.

According to Holyoke Police Lt. Jim Albert, around 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, 23-year-old Joshua Rojas of Woonsocket, Rhode Island was caught hiding out in an apartment at 139 Sargeant Street in Holyoke.

Law enforcement agencies from Massachusetts and Rhode Island worked together to search and arrest Rojas.

Lt. Albert said Rojas was arrested on a Fugitive Warrant, and faces several crimes in Rhode Island, including firearms charges. Rojas is accused of being involved in a shooting incident on March 3rd in Woonsocket that left two people injured.

Rojas is being held in the Holyoke Police lockup overnight.

Holyoke Police Detectives, Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Violent Fugitive Apprehension Unit and Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to Hampden County District Attorney Anthony Gulluni’s Office worked together on Tuesday to make the arrest.
