Family dog rescued from mobile home fire in Springfield

The Red Cross is assisting one resident

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Firefighters were able to quickly control a fire, Wednesday night, at a mobile home on Lamplighter Lane.

According to Springfield Fire Spokesman Dennis Leger, the fire started at 8 Lamplighter Lane around 6:21 p.m. Wednesday. He said no one was injured, and the family dog was rescued.

The Red Cross is helping the woman who lived in the mobile home find somewhere else to stay Wednesday night. Leger said the fire started while the woman left to go on an errand.

He said the “structure is a total loss;” the Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad was called in to investigating the cause, but the fire is being considered accidental.
