Another meeting held in Springfield on police & community relations

The Committee will be making stops in every Ward

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield Police Community Relations Committee met with residents from the eastern part of the City, Wednesday night.

The Committee heard from residents and handed out surveys. The surveys ask residents questions about their interactions with police and their greatest crime concerns.

East Springfield residents expressed concerns about the civilian run police dispatch and incidents at the new developments under construction. Residents were given the opportunity to share their opinions with the Committee first hand.

Richard Talbot of Springfield told 22News, “It could bring a lot together. It can bring neighborhoods together, it can bring the police together, which they need also. I think it needs a lot.”

Wednesday night’s meeting was an open dialogue between committee members and East Springfield residents. The Committee will be making stops in every Ward to hold meetings and distribute surveys.
