CANDLER, N.C (WJHL) – UPDATE: The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office said a missing North Carolina girl who was the subject of an Amber Alert early Wednesday morning has been found safe.

Just after 7 a.m. a spokesperson for the sheriff’s department said eight-year-old Bailey Queen was found safe and her condition was good. The child’s father, Joshua Queen, was accused of taking her. He was taken into custody just before 8 a.m. at a truck stop off  Interstate 40 in Candler.

The girl was reported missing after a domestic incident late Tuesday night at a home in Candler, North Carolina. A woman told police her ex-husband, 32-year-old Queen, assaulted her then took their child and left in her car.

An Amber Alert was issued soon after the incident. The pair were said to be driving in a gold 2003 Toyota Corolla with North Carolina license plate number YPX7062.

Investigators said Queen had an open warrant for assault and could have been carrying a firearm.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office at 828-250-6670.
