HAMPDEN, Mass. (WWLP) – A family safely escaped their burning home in Hampden, Tuesday afternoon.
Hampden Fire Chief Michael Gorski told 22News the fire started around 3:00 p.m. at 62 Stony Hill Road, and contained within minutes of firefighters arriving.
Chief Gorski said two people were home at the time of the fire. He said the residents heard their kitten crying from a room in the home and discovered the fire.
Hampden was receiving assistance from fire departments in Monson, Wilbraham, East Longmeadow and Somers, CT. The right side of the home looks to have some serious damage and Chief Gorski said much of the home does have some smoke damage.
Three people live in the home, and the Chief said they’re all accounted for. No word yet on what caused the fire.
