CHICOPEE, Mass. (Mass Appeal) – Christmas and Hanukkah will be here in just a few days, but it’s not too late to add a little holiday cheer into your home. Blogger Charlotte Smith showed us some quick and easy decorations that will bring your home together in no time!
- 2″ circle punch
- old book pages/ colorful craft paper
- hot glue gun
- string/ twine
- bottle caps
- flat rocks
- paint pens
1. Use a circle punch to cut out circles from an old book or colorful craft paper. Fold each circle in half. Take three circles at a time, and glue the folded half of one circle to the folded half of the second circle. Glue the remaining two halves of the first two circles onto the two halves of the third circle. Make as many of these garland pieces as you’d like and then thread a piece of yarn or twine through the middle where the three circles meet.
2. Macaroons are not only delicious, but they’re also colorful and pretty! These DIY macaroon ornaments are a breeze and will add a little flavor to any tree. Collect metal bottle caps… either from screw top drinks you consume or buy them ready to go at the craft store. Use spray paint or chalk paint to color the bottle caps. Cut a 6-inch length of ribbon and knot the two ends together. Place the knotted end in between two painted bottle caps and glue the caps together, pinching the ribbon inside in the process. Run a bead of glue around the seam where the two bottle caps meet and sprinkle generously with glitter.
3. Gather some flat rocks. On each rock, paint one seasonal item. Examples: snowman, snowflake, star, tree, stocking, elf, menorah, candy cane, manger… Place the rocks face down and have your child draw five rocks. The goal is to tell a story using the images on your rocks. This is a wonderful game for the family and would also make a great gift if presented in a seasonal draw string travel bag!
