SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) – After you buy the gifts, you’ve got to make certain they reach their destination on time.
With Christmas just one week away, we need all the help we can get.
It’s come down to the wire for so many who must have those packages in the hands of loved ones no matter how far away.
Mark Haskell of Springfield told 22News he’s sending gifts to his children thousands of miles away.
“Kids are over in Paris France, I know local postal workers, hopefully France’s system works.”
This is the second consecutive Sunday, several western Massachusetts postal facilities stayed open from noon to 4 to accommodate the crowds.
Russell Brown of Springfield told 22News, “In this day and age with all the digital texting, everything, this is like an excellent addition to the hands on, you want to send a card traditional and hand written note and it comes in the mail, I think this is great”
And if the postal service was looking for compliments, voices of appreciation for staying open on two consecutive Sundays, they could count of Jackie Kiernan of east Longmeadow for kind words.
Kiernan said, “Definitely wonderful, it’s a great idea, very convenient more people coming in”
She’d get no argument from the package laden public that flocked to the post offices in East Longmeadow, Easthampton, Amherst and Pittsfield on this final Sunday.
