Springfield church hosts live nativity

The story centered on a drummer girl given the chance to travel and meet baby Jesus

SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) – The spirit of the season literally came alive today inside the South Congregational Church in Springfield.

Parishioners from the South Congregational and Forest Park Memorial Church joined together for this faith filled look at the birth of baby Jesus.

The story centered on a drummer girl given the chance to travel and meet baby Jesus.

The pews were filled with people of all ages and faiths who were eager to immerse themselves in more than just presents.

Thomas Gerstenlauer, the senior minister of South Congregational Church said “In this season we have the opportunity to not only reinforce the message that we deliver all year long to our regular congregation. But also to guest, family members and occasional visitors to the church get to hear again stories that are planted in their own memories.”

The live nativity wouldn’t have been complete without live animals straight from the reverend’s farm.

This was their 3rd annual live nativity.
