LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – 100th birthday celebrations have become regular events at Longmeadow’s JGS Lifecare’s Leavitt Family Jewish Home.

On Sunday afternoon, family members joined the nursing home residents and staff to help Abe Neigher celebrate his 100th birthday. Generations of family members filled the auditorium to wish him well.

Dr. William Neighor, his son, told 22News that longevity runs in the Neigher family.

He said, “The two oldest sisters, Goldie and Betty, are 104 and 102. My dad celebrates his 100th today, and his brother lived to be almost 101.”

Springfield’s Mayor Domenic Sarno joined the party to extend his congratulations by way of a proclamation honoring the newest member of the western Massachusetts century club.
