Easthampton swears in new police officers

Police Chief Robert Alberti says he's "very excited" to work with the department.

EASTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Easthampton’s new Chief of Police Robert Alberti was sworn in late Friday afternoon at Easthampton High School’s auditorium. Family, friends, and other well wishers filled the high school auditorium for the afternoon ceremony.

Mayor Karen Cadieux also administered the oath to Captain Chris Patnode, Lt. William Kelly, Detective Eric Alexander and Patrolman Justin Malinowski. And in a ceremonial changing of the guard, Detective Eric Alexander received his badge from his grandmother Marlene, a 25-year veteran of the Easthampton Police.

Chief Alberti told 22News these are exciting times in local law enforcement. We’re all committed to this community,” he said. “We’re very excited. This is a big family; it’s a very tight community and we’re very excited.”
