SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A man damaged an ATM while trying to retrieve a stolen credit card from the machine, Springfield police say. According to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney, on December 1, the suspect tried to use the stolen card to obtain cash from the TD Bank ATM at 958 State Street.

The machine would not release the card, so the suspect tried to use a paper clip to get it out. In the process, he damaged the machine to the point that it would no longer work.
