Mayor: Holyoke Public Schools closed due to weather

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse announced through Facebook that Holyoke Public Schools would be closed on Friday, December 16th.

According to the Mayor Morse’s Facebook post, the closure is due to the extremely cold weather forecasted for western Massachusetts, Thursday night into Friday morning.

There is currently a High Wind Warning for Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin counties until 4:00 a.m. Friday and a Wind Chill Advisory for all counties until 11:00 a.m. Friday.

According to 22News Meteorologist Brian Lapis, Friday’s temperatures will be close to zero, and a light breeze will make the air feel well below zero.

A representative for Holyoke Public Schools told 22News that school and district offices will remain open on Friday.
