Deputy accidentally shoots himself in South Carolina

ANDERSON, S.C. (WSPA) – A sheriff’s deputy accidentally shot himself in the leg, according to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident happened around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday at Anderson Crossing Apartments on Beltline Boulevard.

The deputy had come home from an off-duty assignment when the accident happened. He was taken to AnMed hospital for treatment of an injury to his leg.

A spokeswoman with the sheriff’s office said she did not think his injuries were life-threatening. The sheriff’s office said the shooting is under investigation.
